Last week in Washington DC, Gil and Jacki Cisneros cut the ribbon on the Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute, a beautiful building in the middle of George Washington University! This Center was created by the university with the Cisneros’ generous $7 million donation last summer, with the goal of empowering Latino high-achieving students. Click here to view the article.
I was honored to be present at the ceremony and at the special luncheon at the home of George Washington U. President Steven Knapp and his lovely wife. The luncheon gathered Latino and non-Latino leaders from all around the country to celebrate the center opening, and to congratulate Gil and Jacki.
The best part of the event was Gil’s speech, when he talked about how he arrived to the school at 17, his journey since then, and his life-mission of giving back… there was not a dry eye in the room.
